평택시가 주최하고 평택시국제교류재단(이사장 최원용)이 주관한 제8회 한·미 평화음악회가 12월8일 JnJ아트컨벤션에서 열렸다.

시의 유엔 국제평화도시 가입을 기념해 마련된 이날 음악회는 험프리스 기지사령관, 미 607 항공지원작전단장 등 주한미군측 주요 인사, 미군, 시민 등이 참석했다.

►유엔 국제평화도시 가입을 축하하는  ‘2023 한·미 평화음악회’가 열리고 있다.

크리스마스 캐럴을 포함한 클래식, 퓨전국악, 대중가요 등 다양한 장르가 펼쳐진 음악회는 주한미군 가족 100명을 비롯한 400명이 참여하면서 한·미간 친선을 다졌다.

축하공연에 험프리스 중학교 학생 50명으로 구성된 콘서트 밴드와 오케스트라가 크리스마스 음악과 미8군 재즈밴드가 펼친 공연이 참석자들에게 호응을 얻었다.

최원용 이사장은 “시는 국제평화도시로 자부심을 갖고 더 넓은 세계와 소통하며 상호 이해를 높이는 일에 헌신할 것이다” 며 “앞으로 시와 주한 미군의 협력과 우정이 더욱 깊어지기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

Hosted by Pyeongtaek City and organized by the Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation (Chairman Choi Won-yong), the 8th Korea-U.S. Peace Concert was held at the JnJ Art Convention on December 8.

The concert, which was organized to commemorate the city's membership in the United Nations International Peace City, was attended by key figures from the U.S. Forces Korea, including Humphries, commander of the U.S. 607 Air Support Operations Group.


The concert, which featured various genres such as classical music, fusion Korean traditional music, and popular songs, including Christmas carols, strengthened the friendship between Korea and the U.S., with 400 people, including 100 families of the U.S. Forces Korea.

The celebration was well received by a concert band and orchestra of 50 Humphreys Middle School students and Christmas music and performances by the U.S. Eighth Army Jazz Band.

Chairman Choi Won-yong said, "The city will take pride in being an international peace city and will devote itself to communicating with the wider world and enhancing mutual understanding," adding, "We look forward to deeper cooperation and friendship between the city and the U.S. military in Korea."
